US Government Denies Dakota Access Pipeline Permit

On Sunday, December 4, 2016, the Obama administration delivered on a promise President Obama had made to the Standing Rock Sioux and other assembled tribes years ago to respect their rights and be on their side when it really matters. It came in the form of a statement by the US Army Corps of Engineers that they would not approve the final permit needed for the Dakota Access Pipeline to be built underneath Lake Oahe, thereby blocking its route near the Standing Rock Reservation.
