Marin People’s Climate Event Calls for Action

May 1, 2017

Saturday, April 29th, in Washington DC, in Marin, Santa Rosa, Sonoma, in Oakland, and over 370 other locations around the country and the world, citizens stood up en mass as part of the People’s Climate Mobilization to assert the reality and severity of the building climate crisis.  In Washington, over 200,000 marched to the White House.  In Marin, between 600-1000 people marched from Kentfield, Fairfax and San Rafael to the San Anselmo Hub. There, they held a demonstration and vigil at the intersection of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. and Center Ave, then rallied and listened to speakers in nearby Creek Park, (see below).  Wherever people gathered, they demanded action on climate change and a rapid transition to a new, just, clean energy economy.
