SUMMARY:Banking for Climate\, Community\, & Justice
DESCRIPTION:Climate disasters are only on the rise. Yet just last year\, corporate banks provided $673 billion to the fossil fuel industry and oil and gas companies made a record of $4 trillion in profits\, according to the annual Banking on Climate Chaos report. Join three Marin Academy seniors enrolled in the “Transdisciplinary Leadership Program: Climate Justice” course partnered with climate organization 350Marin.org for an evening conversation exploring how local banks and credit unions are beneficial for the climate\, communities and economy while supporting divestment from fossil fuels. Panel guests will dive into the equity side of corporate versus local banking\, as well as the financial and personal benefits. Our speakers will include Lynn Marie Auzenne of Beneficial State Bank\, Reva Rao of Travis Credit Union\, and Patrick Costello\, Green River Sustainable Investing.
