SUMMARY:Community MicroGrids: Renewable Energy and Resilience
DESCRIPTION:Microgrid project in Freiberg\, Germany \nAs the power shut-offs this Fall demonstrated so clearly\, we can’t rely on the current system of centralized power suppliers\, long transmission lines\, and rigid\, aging infrastructure to deliver electricity to consumers. We believe it’s time to make a change—and that’s why 350Marin is excited to be partnering with Environmental Forum of Marin at this timely community education event: \nCommunity Microgrids: Renewable Energy and Resilience \nDate: February 4\, 2020\nWhere: Corte Madera Community Center\nWhen: 6:30 – 9 PM (doors open at 6:00 PM with light refreshments) \nJoin join us and learn about a safer\, more reliable\, and climate-friendly way to power homes and businesses. Speakers will address: \nThe interplay of distributed energy resources (think of the solar on top of your house)\, energy storage\, and microgrids\nHow communities in the future may be able to generate all\, or most\, of their own power to be entirely self-sufficient—and carbon-neutral\nThe technical and regulatory progress and challenges in deploying microgrids\, with updates on current microgrid projects in Marin and beyond. \nThis event features three presentations from experts: \nPeter Asmus\, Research Director\, Guidehouse\, will focus on microgrids\nEllie Cohen\, Chief Executive Officer\, The Climate Center\, will describe the Advanced Community Energy (ACE) initiative\nJohn Sarter\, Clean Coalition\, will talk about community microgrid initiatives in California \n The event will wrap up with a moderated Q&A discussion and an opportunity to visit partners tabling at the event—including us! We hope to see you there. For more information and registration\, click here.  To see and/or download the event flyer\, click here. \nPost to 350BA
