SUMMARY:Come Hear the Valve Turners' Story and Support Them!
DESCRIPTION:The five Valve Turners\n \nOn Sunday\, Jan. 14th at 11:30AM\, join us at First Presbyterian Church in San Anselmo to hear two climate heroes tell their story\, and to support the group’s legal defense as they prepare to argue their historic Climate Necessity Defense in court.  “Valve Turners” are a group of people who\, as an act of political conscience\, are trying to make us all aware of the extreme threat that climate change represents by turning off the valves of five pipelines carrying dirty crude from Canadian tar sands to US refineries. They expected to be arrested\, and now have all been charged with or convicted of felonies.   The event will be the next in the Green Chautauqua series\, co-sponsored by the First Presbyterian Church\, 350Marin and the Sierra Club of San Francisco Bay.  You can see\, download and print the event’s flyer HERE. \nWho are the Valve Turners and why did they risk arrest and imprisonment for their beliefs?  Two of the five Valve Turners will be speaking:  Michael Foster\, teacher and tree planter\, and Emily Johnston\, poet and author.   They’ll present thoughtful\, articulate stories of acting out of necessity to raise our awareness and protect the planet while we still have time. Read more about Emily and Michael’s trials HERE and HERE. \nThe event is free.  Donations will be collected to help support the group’s legal defense fund.  Please join us to meet and hear them if you can!  You can let us know you’re coming below: \n \n  \n  \n
