Advocating for Climate Leadership

This campaign focuses on building our political power through local education and advocacy in order to foster climate leadership and action in the County of Marin. We work in two primary areas:

  • First, identifying, supporting, educating and holding accountable key climate champions who are either currently elected officials and/or candidates running for office in the municipalities and the County of Marin.
  • Secondly, we work to monitor and track (using a reporting tool) the key climate initiatives and actions of our local governments, such as the passage of ordinances, resolutions, and proclamations; the creation of programs and initiatives; and educational events and community activities that are held locally addressing the issues of climate change.

In this work, we are in communication and collaborating with a number of local Marin non-profits such as Sustainable Marin (San Rafael, Mill Valley, Novato) and their Climate Rapid Response Network (CRRN), Climate Reality Project-Building Electrification (BE) and Electric Vehicles (EV) Squads, Sierra Club Marin Group, the Marin Conservation League, etc.
