An enchanting true tale of landscape restoration unfolds in this documentary inspired by Isabella Tree’s award-winning book and narrated by the author herself. Directed by David Allen, the film captures the inspiring adventure undertaken by Isabella and her husband Charlie Burrell as they rejuvenate their ancestral estate, a 3,500-acre British farm, triumphing over doubting naysayers with their innovative approach to “re-wilding” the land. Well documented with stunning cinematography and engaging animation, their project does have its occasional comical mishaps, as depicted in remarkable reenactment scenes replete with animal participation. By sharing these as well as making shrewd use of time-lapse photography, the film reveals how marvelous and enlightening nature’s fortitude is when given a chance, prompting welcome reflection on how best to steward our land.
