Activist Greta Thunberg Nominated for Nobel Prize

On March 14th, 2019, the day before a Global Youth Strike for Climate she inspired, 16 year old climate activist Greta Thunberg from Sweden was nominated for this year’s Nobel Peace Prize.  For years, the climate crisis has been her single-minded focus.  She has called for people to rise up, take their power back from their failing and corrupt leaders, and insist that our society acknowledge the massive approaching climate crisis and take immediate action to address it.  Read more about her Nobel nomination here in the New Scientist.

You can see why Greta is such a phenomenal activist who conveys the urgency needed to address the climate issue by watching her brief speeches at the recent UN COP24 Climate Conference in Poland, and at the Economic Summit in Davos this year below.  As she said in Davos, “Our house is on fire.  I’m here to tell you, our house is on fire…”
